Shopping Marketplace on the move
A road trip is a rolling search radius. With a little planning you can pick things up on the way instead of making special trips.
Plan two or three days ahead
Message sellers along your route a couple of days before you leave. Tell them roughly when you’ll pass through and ask if they can hold the item. Many sellers will, especially for a confirmed time.
Know your space
Measure your cargo space before you go, and include the measurements in your first message. This avoids the classic “it won’t fit” moment at the curb.
Moving to a new city
- Set your new city as the destination and search for furniture near it.
- Arrange pickups for your first weekend, when you have the van or truck.
- Sell bulky items before you leave by searching your origin city for comparable prices.
Safety when you’re passing through
- Choose busy, well-lit public places or a police station’s safe exchange zone.
- Share your stops with someone at home.
- Pay on collection, after you’ve checked the item. Avoid deposits to strangers.
